Nautilus locking ~/.recently-used and blocking other apps

I'm running Nautilus 2.5.6 on Gentoo / BMG (gnome-current-cvs).

Almost every time I try to run an app from a Nautilus window, the app
hangs. I managed to track it down (strace) to being locked in a lock
request over .recently-used which Nautilus holds; and indeed, "killall
nautilus" works around it.

Can't find this in the bug tracker, wanted to check if this was a known
problem or something?
