view suggestion : "positioned icons"

I suggest (the idea only, i'm not good c programmer)
to add new view: "positioned icons".
Like the desktop but for any folder.

suggestion is to make it with fixed grid while the grid may be 
configured via UI
(so grid 1x1 is like no grid at all)

What do you guys think ?
