Preview of files from localhost

I'm playing a bit with webdav on my home machine, and I see that files
form localhost are remote files. 

I mean: is a good idea modify the thumbnailer in order to make/use
preview of files form http://localhost/~elle.uca or ftp://localhost/ or
other when related option is set to "Local File Only"?

We need to distinguish between remote protocol/local files and remote
protocol/remote files.
