Something else Nautilus needs to do is not probe the devices listed in
/etc/fstab.  I have external SCSI CD and DVD drives and most of the time
I want them powered down.  Nautilus 1 was ok with this but Nautilus 2
always wants to probe the device.  Needless to say GNOME 2 hangs on
login if the device isn't powered on.
