And I still maintain that capplets are for controling things. 
This view is not meant to do that, instead it lets you just see things
about your computer, like what memory you have, what disks, what USB
devices, maybe CPU temparture and fan speed should be built into the CPU
icon in additon to Mhz (we could call them acticons for active icons
<g>). It could be extended to letting you see partitions on your disks, 
and maybe it could show you all the information that is covered by the
DMI and IMPI standards.

Putting view only data into the capplets just dillutes their concept.
