I like this thread, and I'd like to ask about the flip side:

  What if I want to share my files?  Why couldn't this be as easy as it is
(or easier) than from the Windows GUI?  If I remember correctly, Mandrake
8.2 already has a feature very much like this.  Why wouldn't that feature
get merged back in to the main tree? I believe KDE already has sometype of
file sharing via some web service, but I don't know if it's read/write or
read-only.
