Change multiple permissions

OK, I just tried to do this with Nautilus and couldn't find any help or
a way to accomplish this.

I highlight multiple files with the intent to change the group on all of
them.  Nautilus always asks me if I want to open N number of windows or
cancel.

Is there a way to do this?  I normally work at the command line but
when  friend asked me how o do this in Nautilus I was stumped.  This is
the GNOME-2.0 version.
