Re: [Nautilus-List] Constructive Criticism Revisited

As Ryan said the main developers are REALLY busy porting to the GNOME2
platform. Just take a look at the Release for Alpha 2 to see the obvious
pressure Darin and the others are under to get things done.

Besides most people don't want to get drawn into a thread where the
instigator keeps having petulant frenzies when others disagree with his
ideas.

Once pointed in the right direction you made some valid points. You made
a concerted effort to portray your idea graphically so the people would
"get it". This is good. Most people that come onto lists and complain
about missing/badly implemented features and get scolded simply
disappear and sulk. But you didn't and argued for what you thought was
correct. Don't go spoiling all that by throwing a temper tantrum because
it's not been implemented already by one of the developers. These idea's
get absorbed into the group consciousness and if you don't act on it by
coding the new sidebar, someone else will. In fact I've been reading
over the code with a view to getting more involved development wise for
the last week or so and wouldn't mind giving it a go myself, when I've
the time (which won't really be for a couple of weeks, buying a house
and moving is quite time consuming.)

So please stick around, input and ideas are always welcome. Just
remember that most people are like you, they have full time jobs that
require a lot of their time and coding for nautilus is generally a
hobby. Try reading over the code for the first time with a teething baby
crying beside you and you'll see how difficult it is to even squeeze in
half an hour of volunteer coding time.
