The most compelling reason would probably be that if the search results
were presented in Nautilus, then you could do anything with them that
you can do with files in Nautilus.  Run scripts on them, create links to
them etc.

Of course you could duplicate all that functionality in
gnome-search-tool, but then you'd have to keep up (and perhaps even
duplicate code) every time a new function was added to Nautilus, which
seems a bit needless.
