Yes! That would be very helpful. I also found out that I don't need to see
all the dot-files most of the time, but sometimes it is necessary. Currently
I have them always switched on but it surely is very crowded in some
directories, especially in my home dir... :)
Since I use the tree view to navigate quickly between folders, I also had
the idea to let "show dot files" only act on the main view, but not on the
tree view sidebar. For the details see my "bug" report 62201:
