[Nautilus-list] multiple instances/memory consumption?

Hi,
I have never really tested Nautilus before, but I downloaded 1.0 yesterday.
It seems to me that the memory consumption is quite excessive. I am using
an Athlon750 with 128 megs of memory. After opening a couple windows and
browsing the web with Nautilus gTop reports memory stats like this:

nautilus 170000 K
nautilus-mozilla-content-view	85000 K

Add to that all the other little nautilus processes and it uses insane
amounts of memory. I think the problem is that I has several instances of
nautilus and nautilus-mozilla-content-view running at once. They never seem
to exit, even when I close all Nautlius windows.
If I open a terminal and perform a "killall nautilus" and "killall
nautilus-mozilla-content-view" the mozilla instances go away and don't come
back and I end up with only 4 (or so) instances of nautilus itself. Memory
consumption is then down to around 80000k for nautilus.

Now my question, is this normal? Are all these instances supposed to be
running sucking up all the memory. Or is this a problem?

P.S.: please reply to me directly too since I am not subscribed to the
list.
