 I'd recommend to try removing /etc/gtk/gtkrc.$LANG (or with any extension
that may partially match your locale name (most probably /etc/gtk/gtkrc.ru in
your case). But beware - you won't see russian in any GtkEntry if done this
way (patch to gtk is posted, and most probably will be included in
gtk-1.2.10).
 (And of course you'll have to define font name to use in your ~/.gtkrc - use
gnomecc for this - "theme selector" applet).
