I've bene trying to get fam to work on my Mandrake 8 +Cooker stuffs
system to no avail, even though Cooker provides a fam package. But I've
noticed that fam requires xinetd and portmap to be running? Is this just
the way that Mandrake packaged them or is this a true dependency? I
certainly don't want to have to leave portmap turned on, and I'm sure
that people connected to the internet w/o a firewall want it off too. I
would prefer to leave xinetd off as well.
