This is unhelpful to me when I unpack a source tarball and there are
files named INSTALL and README and NEWS and ChangeLog that I want to
see quickly. The existence of Nautilus is not going to make people
stop shipping directories that are layed out this way. And it will
probably be a while before source packages ship with Nautilus
metadata.

Nautilus needs to help users work with their existing files in
addition to paving the way to better ways of doing things.
