That's what it is. I couldn't put my finger on it.

Okay, I'm mostly kidding. But does anyone know if there's a way
to turn hinting off for Xft? I personally prefer the unhinted
rendering though I expect I'm in the minority among developers.
(Even there, though, I bet people could get used to it. A few
years ago I remember lots of people complaining about how anti-
aliased text of any kind was "blurry".)
