Hello Maciej and fellow Nautilus testers,
I work at Penguin Computing as a pre sales systems engineer, and I can
tell you from first hand experience that as soon as a new revision of
Red Hat is released, the first thing people ask is, "Do you have the new
Red Hat on your systems?" People, mostly those new to Linux are going to
want to see the latest and greatest on their systems. I can tell you
that due to the extreme amount of press that Eazel has gotten lately,
people are going to want the installer available for whatever underlying
package management system they use. By being vague in saying that "this
may change in the future" Eazel is leading people to think that future
releases of Gnome might not work on their computers or will not include
Nautilus. I realize that Nautilus 1.0 will be available in RPM4, but the
fact that it sounds as though nobody there seems too concerned about
getting RPM4 packages compiled is not too reassuring...
I have managed to install the hourly binaries under Red Hat 7, but it
seems the Mozilla component does not work as I am told that every web
address I type in is unreachable.... I had to do some library juggling
and --nodeps --force, but it worked, at least to allow for file
management...
OK, so that's my 2 cents worth...
