I've done some digging, and with MP3 tags set like this:

id3v2 -a "R.E.M" -A "Murmur" -t 'TEST' test.mp3
id3v2 -a "Radiohead" -A 'Com Lag - 2+2=5' test2.mp3

the REM album matches first time anyway against latest CVS, so I'm not
too sure what your problem is, id3v2 -l output should help pin it down.

The Radiohead album does expose a small bug. I've put a patch up at
http://cgi.lwillis.plus.com/p/album_matching.patch. Can you try with
this patch and check that your Radiohead art gets reads in OK (You'll
probably have to remove ~/.gnome2/*.db and re-import your MP3s).
