Re: usability studies

Hello,

My company, bearstech, is currently sponsoring hackable:1 (http://www.hackable1.org), a distro for the hackable devices based on debian and implementing the gnome mobile specification
(right now the openmoko freerunner is our first target).

We are currently working on defining a consistent and global look and feel for our applications.
Before starting our own design we would prefer starting or joining an usability study group.

Can you give us some pointers about how to start ?

I've been talking about doing a usability study for GNOME and I think the area that would be great to focus on is netbooks or other mobile devices. I think that small screens, small keyboards, touch screens, etc add a whole different dimension to usability.

Are others also interested in a usability study? If so, what would you be most interested in seeing? Would your company be willing to help fund one? (Please feel free to join in the conversation even if you can't help fund a study!)

Stormy
