I think they might use something different. There hasn't been a
release in quite some time.

Its been improving considerably in that regard. EG its much improved
in Fedora 10 over Fedora 9, and I believe there will (is already) be
significant improvements for multiple devices in a not too distant
release. I know there's improvements for bluetooth and USB audio which
might come and go.
