Re: [gnome.org #12681] Your GNOME Foundation Membership: we need some more information

Hi there,

You requested information on my recent contributions to the GNOME platform.

Does developing software for the GNOME platform count?

I continue to develop several applications on the GNOME platform.

For example, I wrote and maintain GNOME ScreenRuler. GNOME
ScreenRuler was packaged for Debian by GNOME Foundation member
Siegfried-Angel Gevatter Pujals.

I recently managed a translation effort for ScreenRuler:

http://gnomecoder.wordpress.com/2011/11/28/screenruler-and-studly-translators-french-spanish-brazilian-portuguese-german-czech-serbian-needed/

My biggest contribution to the platform is Luz, an open-source live
motion-graphics application written using Gtk, which has been in
active development for the past 6 years. It's quite a mature project.
I've given two SIGGRAPH presentations on Luz.

I recently created and ran a 4 month seminar in which children used
GNOME, GIMP and Luz to create a digital puppet play, and here is the
result:
http://gnomecoder.wordpress.com/2011/08/28/video-evilish-an-original-digital-puppet-play-created-by-children-in-luz-studio

Several of these children now have GNOME on their home computers as a
direct result of this.

You can see my code contributions to Luz here, over 2,000 of them:
http://code.launchpad.net/~ian-mcintosh/luz/trunk

And please provide us with at least two contacts that can vouch for you.

Are you looking for people who can vouch for my character or my
contributions? I've asked two people who are familiar with my work,
though I haven't heard back from them yet.

I spend about 2 hours a day working on FOSS, all of it using Gtk for
the GNOME platform. I hope that the BZR history and debian
screenruler package details demonstrate the work I've done.

Dear Ian McIntosh,

Thank you for applying to become a member of the GNOME Foundation! In
order to process your application, we need a bit more information.

It would help us to process your membership application if you could tell
us a bit more about any recent contributions that you have made to GNOME.
And please provide us with at least two contacts that can vouch for you.
Once you Âhave provided this we'll get back to you as soon as we can.

Best wishes,

The GNOME Foundation Membership Committee
