Re: [gnome.org #11928] [RENEWAL] Application received from Peter Korn (peter.korn AT oracle.com)

Hi Andrea,

My main involvement in GNOME accessibility has been directing EC
grant-funded contributions to GNOME specifically and also to GNU/Linux &
UNIX desktops more generally. These are from the AEGIS grant project
(see http://www.aegis-project.eu/). These include:

    * GNOME Shell magnification, as realized by Joseph Scheuhammer and
the Inclusive Design Resource Centre in Toronto
    * A GNOME accessibility (regression) testing harness and suite of
tests, being implemented by Brian Nitz and Oracle
    * Contributions to the shift of the accessibility framework from
      CORBA to DBUS
    * Some Dasher improvements
    * Improvements to the eSpeak TTS engine, to date primarily focused
on Greek and Spanish, but expanding more to other languages as well
    * OpenGazer - an open source gaze tracker for commodity webcams (see
      http://www.inference.phy.cam.ac.uk/opengazer/), which may become
part of GNOME in the future
    * 3 plug-ins to OpenOffice.org / LibreOffice that help:
o Generate DAISY format digital talking books for people with
            print impairments
          o Braille transcription and printing
o Concept-coding framework supported text authoring for people
            with cognitive impairments

Soon I expect AEGIS will also contribute improvements to Ekiga to enable
real-time-text communication (which folks in the deafness community have
been seeking).

While not all of these are "GNOME", many are, and all of these things
are used by various folks with disabilities on the GNOME desktop.

Regards,

Peter

Hi,

could you please give us some pointers regarding your contributions over
these two years?

You last renewed on Mon, 27 Oct 2008, and since GNOME Foundation's
Membership duration is two years, you lost your membership.

I am mailing the provided vouchers to receive some informations about
your GNOME contributions over these two years.

Thanks in advance,

Andrea,
on behalf of the GNOME Membership Committee
