Patch for #758804 (Merge all (from right|from left) has no effect)

Hello,

I reported https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=758804 today. 
After reporting I had some spare time and looked into the source code.

I came up with a fix which seems to work.

See the attachment for a patch.

Since I am not sure what the preferred way of accepting patches is I 
will also attach it to the bugzilla entry.
