1.7.3 noise: trying to open a file that does not exist

$ touch a
$ rm -f b
$ meld a b
With meld-1.7.2, this opens "a" in the left pane and a "could not read
file..." yellow-bar in the right pane. With meld-1.7.3, there is also a
diagnostic on the terminal:
