Documentation is in the 'Help' menu.
I don't think there is a proper legend, though much should be self explanatory with some exploration. In file comparisons, green indicates added text, blue indicates changed text, and red indicates conflicts. Differently highlighted text within blue blocks provides a cue as to specific textual (i.e., inline) differences. In a directory comparison, green indicates added files or directories, while red indicates modified; grey is used to indicate missing files. Small star emblems are used to indicate the 'newest' file.
