Meld Idea

Hi All,
  I found meld recenlty, and it looked very nice. I found it beacuse
I was try learn PyGTK and GLADE.
  I've read that no new feature will be add to meld, but I have some
idea that I wuold share with and also I'd like to know if someone else
could improve meld even if the main developer stop to do that.
 Here my idea:

1 - I' will be nice to have an aption that can ovveride the mimetype
of a file so that highlighting will work even if gnome do not know the
mimetype. And I was thinking to something like filnename matching and
first lines matching

2 - Implement a pluggable diff extension so that for certain kind of
file a better diff can be archived: for example on java program if you
move a method that do not the file from Java point of view are the
same. Some like that is already done in Eclipse and even the "ignore
blank lines" is using the same idea.
