yes a movie [singular].
IIRC <enter> was a clever extension, applicable for
some extenstions. Eg. for *.tgz <enter> open the
panel 'on' the dir-tree. The more common [original]
use of the interpreted menu is eg. <F3> to view/play
ONE single file. How do you want to view/play MULTIPLE files?
What would prevent you from selecting multiple DIFFERENT
extensions?

So /etc/mc/mc.ext is a NON-EXECUTABLE text, in a syntax like eg. bash
which is
interpreted [by the 'main' interpreter] -- it seems.
How do you apply it to "multiple files" simultaneously ?
That is the configuration file for the MC extension feature (mc.ext
for short). To use the rules within, you must actually use MC. :)
Select multiple files in MC, then press enter on a file for whom a
matching rule exists, which executes the command based on rules in
mc.ext, by way of temp shellscript, which is when the errors appear
which I'm talking about. (For example to view a photo or watch a
movie.)
