ctl key in mcedit and mc

Hi, i altered some keys via

.Xmodmap:
<snip>
keycode 172 = Next
keycode 174 = Prior
keycode 105 = Delete      <==
EOF

what works fine, except for mc. The delete action via the left [ctl] key
is ignored. (With one exception: once running mc in a ssh session on a
remote debian squeeze, did delete via left [ctl] key also in mc.)

I have to tweak terminfo?
