I'm going to suggest the adoption of the following as standard colours.

base_color=normal=lightgray,black
   :directory=white,default
   :link=lightgray,default
   :executable=brightgreen,default
   :editnormal=lightgray,default

Rationale: It lets unusual files and tabs/trailing spaces stand out on a 
blue background.
