Typically [under linux] I've got 8 VTs of mc open [in a single 1 of 4 desktops]. And when switching between VT's I 'get lost' because there are no visual-cues. So if I eg. cut from a file viewed in VT3 to paste to a file in VT5, I often have to re-examine the whole sequence of 8 to recognise which one I want. There are many times when we need to rapidly switch between VT's with 'bookmarked/known' contents. How do other users handle this ?
I have several buttons:
1) Normal Xterm
2) Named XTerm
3) Named XTerm with mc
The "Named XTerm" is a script which open Xdialog and let me enter a name
and activate a checkbox, whether I want to prevent a title change.
To prevent the title change I have copied "/etc/terminfo/x/xterm-color"
to "/etc/terminfo/m/michelle-color" and since programe like "mc" do not
know what to do with "michelle-color" I run mc with:
xterm -tn ${TERMINFO} -n "${TITLE}" -title "${TITLE}" -c mc
thats all.
