viewing tar archive

Hi there.

I am trying to use mc as a helper app for my mail client.

What I'd like to do is to see a tar file attachment.

How can I start mc to show a tar file contents like a directory view??

something like:
echo "cd /some/dir/file.tar.gz#utar" | mc
