sorry, I found what the /dev/null culprit was :-(



Ooohh, I'm sooo stupid.....

"Someone" linked .mc/history against /dev/null because he didn't want a history....
(much in the style of linking .bash_history -> /dev/null ... )

Now what happens? Ofcourse, chmod .mc/history.... -> chmod the file /dev/null to 0600 :-(

"Bug" solved: It's a feature. So sorry. :-(
