The Mac encoding is a bit cryptic to me. I have no idea what to make of
it. Does Mac OSX use UTF-8? RHL 9 and FC use UTF-8 as their default
charset, which is not a 8 bit character set and quite possibly the cause
of your issues. RHL mc has patches to fix some issues with UTF-8
locales.
Try exporting a UTF-8 locale in the terminal in which you make a
connection to the RHL 9 machine. I have no idea about the correct syntax
as the "LANG" environment variable on OSX is unknown to me.
Leonard.
