Hello!
When one copies something onto a vfat partition the fact that
vfat doesn`t support UNIX permissions rises and bites as hell.
I am not using the newest mc, but isnt there a switch
'Preserve Attributes' used just for that purpose?
Yes, this feature is present, but it's on by default, and once you start
copying, there is no way to change it short of stopping the copying.
That's why the "Ignore all" button is so often asked for, and that's why
it's in the TODO list for version 4.6.1.
Of course, there is a way to mount vfat partitions so that they ignore the
permission problems. The option is called "quiet", see "man mount" for
details.
