Hello!
I noticed that if .netrc is on FAT32 mc shows the following and
always ask for the password:
Error
~/.netrc file has not correct mode.
Remove password or correct mode.
mc is written is assumption that it operates on a multi-user system. The
code for checking .netrc comes from Linux ftp. I think it's a good idea
not to keep your passwords on FAT32, especially if your OS allows remote
logins.
As a "workaround" I moved .netrc to NTFS and created a symlink in $HOME.
It worked.
