Sorry to bother with a rather old issue from eight years in the past.

I'm not a frequent user of MC, however, I would like to lend a hand if
this issue is still relevant. Excuse my ignorance if it has been
already addressed through other means. I have implemented an inotify
library that might be of some help here.
