This is a duplicate of bug #11982. It has been discussed on the mailing list
a lot but there is still no solution yet. I have some ideas but I won't work
on it before mid-October.
This behaviour is particulary nasty because MC acts properly but from the
user's point of view it acts unintuitively and unexpected.
