3. The -x option prevents gpm from working at the console.
Why would you do that ?
Because -x is the only way to get mouse support working inside my
Yakuake-->bash-->screen-->mc stack for some reason. My more important
complaint is that I can't get console mouse support when running MC inside
screen and yet every other GPM-supporting app works fine.
As for the feature requests:
1. could you please add an option to start with MC hidden (equivalent to
starting normally and then pressing Ctrl+o) so I can stick it at the end
of my .bashrc comfortably?
But then you would end up in another shell - the one started by MC and not
in your login shell. Do you really want that ?
My system already triggers a bash --> screen --> bash stack on login because
I've been too busy to solve my "screen won't work as a login shell" problem.
I just want an easy way to automate the "start MC hidden" part of a bash -->
screen -> mc --> bash stack.
If I can find the time to fix screen, I'll prune it down to screen --> mc -->
bash.
