I've applied a similar patch.  The difference is that my code marks in
such way all files that are not regular (tested by S_ISREG), so that
unknown file types (like Solaris "doors" before the support for them was
added) and VFS artifacts (like newly copied files on extfs until recently)
are also clearly shown.
