Sure what you was writing above isn't what I wrote about ))
Detailed description:
1. From mc start some command that takes few seconds.
2. Hit ENTER on it before it completes.
3. Command exist fine, mc panels reappear ok.
4. Run any other command, say "ls".
5. panels reappear instanteneously *before* command completes.
6. "ls" output follows *below* mc panels. In the line where comands
are typed. Lines follow one another very fast, panels stay unchanged.
*****This is bug. Why doesn't it keep panels hidden while running next
command? *****
7. Last line of the last command's output becomes "command prompt" under
panels
*****Why? It shouldn't******
8.Exit mc and reenter it.
9. *Any* command will cause mc to exit after it.
******This is bug. Why doen't mc behave as before?******
******This effectively makes the consequent work with mc impossible ******
10 After restarting mc again this spontaneous mc exits consistently happen
again.
I suspect it changes something in console settings that enables the buggy
behavior
after restart.
After fresh reboot it never happens.
Also mc starts to work correctly after some time elapsed on the same
console. I
don't know how to explain this.
Also it's 100% reproducable. I normally type fast and don't wait for the
command
to complete. And here I am forced to wait by mc.
So there are two symptoms: first following command spits it's output below
the mc
panels and command prompt changes. And than I already know that it will keep
happening
and after restart it will just be dying on any command.
I suspect that this only happens on FreeBSD console not on Linux. Since if it
kept
happening on Linux developers would have fixed it while ago since it's very
annoying ))
Hope it's more clear now.
I can help with this, can provide any additional info.
It would be helpful if in debugging mode mc would write
some log about what it does. And why it exits.
I don't know if this is in mc souces.
Hope bug will be fixed since it's *very* annoying and really is the only
problem with mc for me.
Yuri.
