Hi all,

As I recently noted in my email about release notes, GNOME 3.8 is due
for release on March 27. That gives us about a month to get ready on
the marketing side. This includes:

* Release notes
* Press release
* Update gnome.org (change the banner on the homepage, update the
screenshots on http://www.gnome.org/gnome-3/)
* Reach out to the press in advance to let them know that the release is
coming
* Generate buzz any way we can (blog posts, social media, etc)

Thanks so much for getting us started on this! I can definitely take the
lead on the press release. We should ask for quotes asap if we can. Last
time we had: Andreas as Foundation President, Robyn Bergeron as Fedora
Project Leader, Robert McQueen, as CTO & Co-Founder of Collabora, and
Michael Meeks as Distinguished Engineer at SUSE. For 3.4 we had Matthias
Clasen on behalf of the release team, Jos Poortvliet as openSUSE community
manager, Perhaps this time, we should get Stefano as Debian Project
leader? And perhaps a quote from an Igalian? And maybe me? (though I was
quoted in the 3.2 press release). Any other thoughts?

I'm working on the release notes and would appreciate any help I can
get. We also need people to take care of the press release (this has a
long lead time, since we have to approach people for quotations) and
reaching out to the press. Volunteers are badly needed here.

I loved how for 3.4 we prepared advance press kits for me to send out. It
would be so awesome if we could do that again, but it would involve
pushing up some of the drafting deadlines.

Let me know if you can take responsibility for any of these items.
