Dear all, The KDE and GNOME communities invite representatives of the the media to a press conference on the occasion of the Desktop Summit 2011 in Berlin. The Desktop Summit aims to share free and open source software (FOSS) desktop innovations and to promote further collaboration between the two communities, KDE and GNOME. This bi-annual conference, co-organised by the GNOME Foundation and KDE e.V., is taking place for the second time. It will feature more the 170 talks on topics as diverse as desktop and mobile applications, developing for tablets, community management and accessibility. The conference focuses on cooperation and shared interests of the Free Desktop community. At the press conference on Sunday, 7th of August, you will have a chance to speak directly to representatives of KDE e.V. and the GNOME Foundation as well as contributors to both communities. Present: Mirko Böhm (Desktop Summit organisation), Lydia Pintscher (Desktop Summit program committee), Sebastian Kügler (KDE e.V. board of directors), Aaron Seigo (core KDE contributor), Karen Sandler (GNOME Foundation executive director), and Stormy Peters (GNOME Foundation board of directors), and Dave Neary (core GNOME contributor).
