I should note that I think I didn't explain this as clearly as I could
have last night. I don't believe that we can succesfully market
ourselves as 'just' GNOME- it is unfortunate, but the reality is that
the 'succesful' Linux desktop ATM is defined by firefox and OOo. We
have to figure out how to link to their success in our marketing
strategy; I think that 'heart of the free desktop' can do that; with a
bit more linguistic torture 'the desktop of choice' does that as well
(since we were 'chosen' by OOo/firefox/eclipse/etc.); 'easy and
simple' or whatever doesn't really capture the 'we are part of a
bigger movement here', which I think is crucial if we're to be a
success.
