With respect to the recent discussion on slogans and general discussion
of about "Real Marketing", is it time for a name change?

What is GNOME? We seem to fond of asking that question these days. The
answer is simple: it is the GNU Network Object Model Environment.

What the fuck?!? I (and I presume everyone else reading this too ) find
those words meaningful. What about the end-users?

And what associations (hello Murray!) does the word "gnome" conjure up?
Do we want that baggage? (Does this apply only to native English
speakers?)

I am not suggesting that we need a name change, I am simply wondering if
anyone else has contemplated these issues?
