I looks like the version ends up being run is not the same as the one you built.
make sure there are no libseed's lying around..
try checking the library that the front end is using.
ldd /usr/local/bin/seed | grep seed
seed --help-seed should look like this.
#seed --help-seed
Usage:
seed [OPTION...]
Seed Options
--seed-debug=FLAGS Seed debugging messages to show. Comma separated list of: all, misc, finalization, initialization, construction, invocation, signal, structs, gtype.
--seed-no-debug=FLAGS Disable Seed debugging
--seed-version Print libseed version
