The versions of libgee is really weird:

$ pkg-config --modversion gee-1.0
0.6.6.1

$ pkg-config --modversion gee-0.8
0.8.5

LaTeXila requires gee-1.0 (so the older 0.6 version).
When I tried gee-0.8 for LaTeXila, it was not really stable (segfault).  
Perhaps it is in a better state now.
