I'm reaching you out today in regards an exciting new conference concept.  For years, we had talked about the "Year of the Linux Desktop" but hardly anything actionable has occured to move this concept forward.  GNOME the Free Software desktop is pleased to announce Libre Application Summit (LAS GNOME)!

LAS GNOME is a conference whose goal is to improve the application story for Linux by working towards creating a measurable marketing channel for Linux based applications. We accomplish this by changing the distribution model for applications, creating the conditions for Linux to be the prime developer platform for all applications, and igniting a more personal relationship between users and application developers.

By creating a measurable market, we can demonstrate the strength of the Linux based applications and encourage more participation and investment in creating the large variety of applications that we know the GNU/Linux platform is capable of.
