Hi,
concerning http://news.gnome.org/gnome-news/1029905749/ ...
I did some tests with DocBook stylesheet and came to the conclusion: DocBook PDF output looks bad - almost horrible for a typographer :-(
What about a XSL stylesheet that transforms DocBook to a "oldskool" LaTeX documentclass like article, report or scrartcl, scrreprt (KOMA-script) or a own class of course? PDF ouput would be done directly by pdflatex - without dvi/ps2pdf etc.
This would produce the familiar high-quality TeX-look.
Unfortunately, the creation of a XSL stylesheet for docbook2latex transformation will be a lot of work due to the large amount of DocBook-tags.
Best regards
Ingo
