Crap. This I what I get for not sleeping. I left out an essential clause.

"mnemonic" is the word used throughout the toolkit. It is the name of the
part in the structs and it is in the function names.

In case my distate for using "mnemonic" wasn't clear enough, I would rather
that the api be changed appropriately, but I don't see that happening
any time soon.
