Re: Update ".po" file

Hi,

I don't understand all the steps. Here's my experience:

The "fr.po" file doesn't contain all the translatable strings. For
example, the file "data/range_pick.ui" contains this string:

<property name="label" translatable="yes">Range:</property>

but there's no msgid "Range:" in the file "fr.po", so I want to update
"fr.po", and then translate "Range:".

In the page "LocalisationGuide" you pointed, we can read:

> If you know there are more strings to translate, then you need to generate a new .pot file which contains all the strings to translate and then to merge it with your xx.po file which has a less up-to-date set of translated strings. Generate the .pot file with intltool-update --pot. Merge the two together with msgmerge -o new-xx.po xx.po .pot and try very hard to get those in the right order! Then run msgfmt -cv new-xx.po to see how much work remains.

So, with these commands:

$ cd po
$ intltool-update --pot

a file "untitled.pot" is created. Then I do:

$ msgmerge -o new-fr.po fr.po untitled.pot

and a file "new-fr.po" is created, but it still doesn't contain the
string "Range:".

There must be something I forgot.

Regards,

Jean-Philippe
