Re: [guadec-list] Conference Brochure

Hey Meg!

Thanks for working on this! It looks great to me. If the GUADEC team can provide details on any other content they'd like, I could try to find a visual designer to help finish the layout.

Hi Alberto and Allan,

I finished a first draft of the brochure including the timeline you wanted. I'm linking to a PDF version [0] and I uploaded the svg to GitHub [1]. Allan et al, if you have time please send me feedback. Since I spend all my time coding these days it might look like crap :) I also updated the description of the town with info I found in the GUADEC bid. Let me know if you would like any of the info/wording changed. I also updated the sponsorship form so you can use it for 2017 [2].

Thanks!
Meg

Hey Meg!

This is great timing! So yeah, we do need help on this, I think the first step would be to take last years' version and update it a bit.

Our one goal for this year would be to improve a justification on why GUADEC is valuable for sponsors, not just in terms of perks, but also in terms of the technology base. I'd been thinking of gathering quotes and also explaining the technologies that GNOME has produced for the Linux ecosystem, beyond desktop related stuff, that has been a benefit for these potential sponsors.

I'm attaching a concept that I was playing with which is a timeline for technologies that have spawned out of the GNOME community, and cooked at GUADEC.

Beyond that, I don't have any more specifics, I guess the first step would be to take last years (we're keeping the pricing), and try to update it to reflect that it's about GUADEC 2017, that is going to be held in Manchester etc etc... and once we have a draft we can iterate over it.

Thanks a lot for offering your help Meg, this is really appreciated as we've been looking for sponsors already and lacking an up to date brochure has been an issue already. Let me know if you need anything from us.

Hey,

Allan mentioned that the GUADEC local team is interested in helping
out with this year's event brochure. He said that the team has already
done some work on it, so I'm writing to ask what has been done and how
I can help get things finished up.

Thanks,
Meg
